Register of Lectures by Karl König
This listing of Karl König’s Lectures, their dates, venues and contents (or title where known), is to be understood as work material of the Archive; it is constantly changing and growing according to the development of research. It can be used as reference and states also the type of documents or other references kept by the Archive. For some Lectures – especially during early years – we unfortunately only have references of a title or sometimes only a date in a diary or letter without transcript or even preparation notes. In such cases the word “none” is used for the type of document. Wherever a title or content is known, this is listed in the language of that lecture – English or German.
Lectures belong in a special way to Karl König’s works. According to present knowledge he held over 1.800 Lectures between 1925 and shortly before his death in March of 1966. Of the 1.844 Lectures currently in the list (as of May 2015) 1.123 are documented at least by his own preparation notes, often by transcripts made from listeners’ notes or (later) tape recordings. Many of these transcripts are being included in the volumes of the New Edition, where also, when no transcript is available, some of the handwritten notes are included as facsimile. Other material is to be found – in as far as it connects to one of the published volumes – online in the “Complete Works Workshop”.
